Dancers get down to the Jackson beat
Recently South Cave sports centre was turned into a concert hall in tribute to Michael Jackson.
A street dance class organized by dance teacher Liz Shirra put on a performance named 'The Jackson Years' in aid of the British Heart foundation.
The group consisted of 27 children aged between 8 and 14. Their families and friends watched proudly as the children performed ten Michael Jackson songs and raised £207.52. The raffle at the interval included prizes donated by local businesses such as free badminton and swimming lessons.
The group previously held a car-washing day to pay for their costumes so that as much money as possible made on the night could be donated to BHF.
The dance teacher said: "The evening was a huge success, the group had been practising for weeks and it certainly paid off."
Lucy Watson, fundraising and Volunteer manger for BHF, said: "I was delighted to be invited to the dance show and had a great time watcing. The group obviously put a lot of effort into the event and I would like to thank them and Liz Shirra for the money raised by the event." (19-06-63/64 SU)
