Staff at The Courtyard's Reading Assistance Teaching Scheme (RATS) in Goole are celebrating after receiving a generous grant of £750 from the town's Rotary Club.

The club were supporting schemes around literacy when they made the donation to RATS, and the money will be used to support workshops for children. The cheque was presented to Lynne Hunter of RATS by Rotary Club members Bob Haigh, the Rev Peter Webster and Ken Dagwell, who is also a RATS volunteer.

RATS is also looking for new volunteers to help with its new Steps project, which aims to support children in their transition from primary to secondary school.

Volunteers from the local community are needed to give two hours per week in order to support a child in this transition period. If you think you can help and are prepared to give up two hours of your time each week, please contact Sue Walsh on 01405 837127 for more information.
