British Heart Foundation (BHF) shops across Yorkshire are urging residents to have a clear-out this month and help turn unwanted items into lifesaving research and equipment.

By donating items to a BHF shop locals will be joining the charity in its fight against heart and circulatory disease, which remains the UK's biggest killer.

Throughout July the leading heart charity will be highlighting the value of these donations to encourage others to donate unwanted items. They will be displaying posters in its shops featuring a red handbag and the strap line 'To you an unwanted bag, to us a heart monitor'.

However handbags aren't the only items that the BHF needs. They are also appealing for good quality clothes, shoes, accessories, books, CDs, DVDs, videos, toys and bric-a-brac.

Visit your local BHF shop on Boothferry Road, in Goole.
