Enthusiast secures competition place
Goole motoring enthusiast Craig Butterfield has qualified for the final of a major classic car competition for the fifth time.
Craig, a 35-year-old lorry driver, won his class with his 2002 Ford Puma at the northern round of the 2007 Autoglym Classic Concours Championship at Newby Hall near Ripon on Sunday, and so qualified for the high-profile final in London in October.
Craig has reached the Autoglym final four times previously, with a Ford Fiesta XR2i, the last occasion being in 2003.
He said: "I am delighted to be back at the final after four years. It is an occasion I always enjoy."
Craig has owned the Puma for two years, and - unusually for a concours competitor – uses it as his everyday transport.
The Autoglym Classic is the country's most prestigious and keenly-contested concours, and its awards are highly-prized. The overall winner at the final at Alexandra Palace on October 6-7 will receive a handsome trophy, £600, a Hamilton Classic car cover worth £400, a specially-commissioned artist's painting of the car, and a year's insurance.
