The support of local businesses has enabled a Goole estate agent to raise around £1,700 from a charity cycling event.

Mark Burtonshaw, estate agency partner at Halifax estate agents in Goole, was one of 5,000 cyclists taking part in the recent British Cyclosportive, which started in London's Greenwich Park and wound its way through Woolwich, Dartford, Gravesend, Rochester, Maidstone, Tonbridge, Royal Tunbridge Wells, Tenterden and Ashford, before finishing in Canterbury.

Mark was raising funds for the British Heart Foundations and HBOS Foundation, and including matched funds, the total raised is expected to be around £1,700.

Many of Mark's colleagues were generous in sponsoring him through the 120-mile ride, as well as some local businesses, including the Goole Times, Rally Repaints of Selby, Donaghue Cycles of Pasture Road and Carlton Cannons Junior Football Club.

Businesses from further afield, including Grindeys Solicitors of Stoke on Trent and Ravensworth Studios of Newcastle, were also kind enough to sponsor Mark. (19-07-24 SU)
