Drink driver banned
A man was disqualified from driving for one year and fined £175 earlier this week when he appeared before Goole Magistrates' Court to face a string of driving offences.
Alex Kozarjonoks (25), of Jackson Street, pleaded guilty to driving whilst under the influence of alcohol, driving a car with windows that had less than 70 per cent visibility and driving a car without an MOT certificate when he appeared in court on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Mrs Julie Laverack Glanville told the court that the BMW that Mr Kozarjonoks was driving was pulled over by police in Mariners Street shortly after 1am on May 27 after they noticed that the windows of the car were heavily tinted.
A check of the windows found the front offside window to allow 37.7 per cent of light in, while the front nearside window allowed only 13 per cent of light in. While speaking to Mr Kozarjonoks, police officers smelled alcohol on his breath and he admitted that he did not have a valid MOT certificate.
At the police station, Mr Kozarjonoks provided a urine sample for alcohol testing, and the results later showed there to be 134mg of alcohol in 100ml of urine. The legal limit is 107mg.
Appearing in court on Tuesday, Mr Kozarjonoks chose not to issue a statement to the court in his defence.
For driving whilst under the influence, magistrates disqualified Mr Kozarjonoks from driving for 12 months and fined him £175. He was also ordered to pay £55 towards court costs and a £15 victim surcharge. For driving with tinted windows and without an MOT certificate, magistrates awarded no separate penalties.
