A 69-year-old Goole resident woke up to be confronted by a hooded intruder who punched him in the face on Sunday evening.

The man, who suffered a suspected broken nose in the incident, was awoken at around 9.20pm to find a young man in the bedroom of his Tennyson Street house.

The intruder demanded money and when the victim refused to hand over any cash, he punched the 69-year-old in the face, took a brown leather wallet containing cash from the room, and left the house.

It is thought the man smashed a rear window to get into the house.

Scenes of crime officers have attended the home and house to house enquiries have been conducted.

The offender is described as white, aged between 18 and 20 years-old, around five feet eight inches tall and dressed in a black hoodie with white stripes, black trousers and black shoes.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area or who may be able to identify the offender.

Anyone who has any information or has found a wallet discarded in the area is asked to contact police on 0845 60 60 222 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting log number 839 of July 15.
