Goole Town Councillor Shirley Marshall and husband Frank celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary tomorrow and will be taking family and friends out for an evening meal at the Royal Oak near Howden.

Shirley and Frank were married at Dunhill Road Methodist Chapel, which is now The Gate Theatre, on July 20 1957.

They have one daughter Stacy, who is married to Paul and five grandchildren Luke (16), Taryn (14), Coedi (12), Sienna (6) and Logan (4).

When asked what the secret to a long and happy marriage is, Shirley said: "In our case we are just there for each other when we need to be."
