Last week saw the official launch of the Reading Assistant Teaching Scheme's (RATS) STEPS project at The Courtyard in Goole.

The new project aims to support young people at risk of becoming disengaged, uninspired or excluded from society or education and dedicated, trained mentor volunteers will work alongside teachers and youth services to build their skills and aspirations. As a result, it is to be encouraged that these young people will become 'ambassadors' themselves and act as peer mentors to other children and young adults.

The project will be based at RATS head office in The Courtyard and last week, staff and volunteers gathered there to celebrate the launch of STEPS with Goole Town Mayor, cllr Jean Kitchen.
