Petition wants M62 resurfacing

Published on 19th July 2007 in News

An online petition has been started calling for the resurfacing of part of the M62 near Howden and Gilberdyke.

The petition reads: "We, the undersigned, petition the Prime Minister to resurface the last remaining mile of concrete M62, Howden-Gilberdyke."

It was started by Ginny Young, who asks: "Why must we suffer 24 hours a day of droning HGVs thundering along on one of the noisiest sections of motorway in the country?

"My windows have to stay tightly shut, day and night, regardless of the weather, as the noise is intolerable."

The petition will run until July 13 2008, when, providing it has attracted 200 or more signatures, it will be passed onto officials in Downing Street or the relevant Government department.

Every person who added their name will receive an email detailing the response to the issues raised.

The petition can be accessed and signed by going to www.petitions.pm.gov.uk and using the search box to look for M62 and Howden.
