Memory of lost friend provides pedal power

More than 60 people pedalled their way around the Howden area on Sunday, raising thousands of pounds for charity as they did so.
Organised by Howden Rotary Club, the ride included three routes varying from five to 20 miles long and started and finished at Laxton Village Hall.
Participants chose their own charities and together raised in the region of £3,880.
It was the eighth annual event of its kind and the Rotarians are already planning next year's event.
One group who took part were the '9 goole blue', who raised £1,250 for a cystic fibrosis charity.
Taking the 20-mile route, they passed through Kilpin, Howdendyke, Saltmarshe, back through Laxton and then onto Yokefleet, Blacktoft and towards Gilberdyke.
The lads cycled in memory of Kieran Taylor, who died at the age of 25 after suffering from cystic fibrosis.
'9 goole blue' was the name of a website Kieran used.
Since Kieran passed away three years ago, his friends and family have raised more than £25,000 for a cystic fibrosis trust fund and are planning a coast to coast 150-mile bike ride and a charity dance night at The Vikings.
Cyclist Phil Tomlinson said: "All in all the event was a success, not only for the Goole lads but also for the local community - a great day was had by everyone.
"A big thank you to all who took part and made this day possible."
