Thieves flee after compound raid

Published on 5th July 2007 in News

Thieves fled after they were spotted trying to steal a road-roller from a compound in Airmyn.

On the evening of Friday, June 22, between 9.45pm and 10.10pm, the would-be thieves forced open the gates of a secure compound near Boothferry Bridge.

They loaded the road-roller onto a trailer but were spotted by a member of the public and fled, leaving behind their trailer with the roller on top.

The trailer was attached to a Ford Transit van, which had been previously been stolen from Nottingham.

The roller was returned to its rightful owner.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Humberside Police on 0845 6060 222, quoting log number 838 of June 22.
