Fine and points for phone driver

A Goole man has been prosecuted under recently-tightened rules on driving and using a mobile pohone
Queliane Alencar (25), of Alexandra Street, was fined £60 and his driving licence was endorsed with three penalty points after being spotted using a mobile phone while driving on March 17.
Mr Alencar, who submitted a written guilty plea and apology, was sentenced in his absence by Goole Magistrates last Friday.
No court costs were awarded.
Usually, the offence is a fixed-penalty offence, but Mr Alencar's case was brought to court because his driving licence is Portuguese.
The fine for phoning while driving was increased from a £30 to £60 in February this year.
