A young Swinefleet man was disqualified from driving for more than a year and landed a £200 fine this week when he faced a drink-driving charge.
Anthony Masterman (19), of Kings Road, pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared before Goole Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Mrs Julie Laverack Glanville told the court that Mr Masterman was spotted driving a Citroen Saxo through a red light in Stanhope Street, before turning into Mariners Street shortly after 11pm on Saturday, June 2.
When police stopped Mr Masterman's car outside the Blockbuster shop on Boothferry Road, they could smell alcohol on his breath. They arrested him after a roadside breath test proved positive.
Further tests showed Mr Masterman had 68mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit for a driver is 35mcg.
In his defence, Mr Masterman told the court: "I am an idiot. I shouldn't have got in the car and driven it."
Magistrates disqualified Mr Masterman from driving for 16 months, and ordered him to pay a fine of £200. He was also ordered to pay £55 towards court costs, and a compulsory victim surcharge of £15.
