Road safety warning after spate of crashes
Published on 14th June 2007 in News
Firefighters are reminding motorists to drive by the rules after an increase in traffic accidents.
The warning came after a woman had to be cut free from a silver Ford Ka which crashed in Epworth last Thursday, shortly after midnight.
Crews had to stabilise the car, which had overturned and landed in a ditch off Hollingsworth Lane, before cutting the woman from the wreckage.
She was removed on a spinal board and taken to Scunthorpe General Hospital but was allowed home a few hours later.
A man in the same car was able to get out of the car himself.
The accident came a week after another woman had to be cut from a minibus after a collision outside the Ferryboat Inn near Boothferry Bridge.
Safety warning
Glenn Ramsden, from the Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, said: "The number of serious road traffic collisions is once again starting to creep up, giving all of the emergency services cause for concern.
"Both ourselves and Humberside Police work very hard to educate road users in a wide range of ways - it is up the road users to take notice.
"It can so easily be you who is the next victim of a road collision.
"It will not necessarily be your fault but it could be you, so stay alert at all times.
"Follow the rules and guidance, put your seatbelt on, mobile phone away and drive carefully!"
