No trace of 'stuck' animals

Published on 14th June 2007 in News

Not a wild goose chase, but a fruitless search for a lamb and a dog.

Goole firefighters went to the area's waterways twice last week after reports of animals in distress.

On Thursday they went to the foreshore near the Ferryboat Inn at Boothferry Bridge at 2.10pm, but found no trace of a lamb reportedly stuck there.

And, on Saturday, they were told that a labrador was in the lock at the confluence of the rivers Ouse and Derwent at Barmby.

Crews from Howden, Goole and Hull went to the scene shortly after 11am but saw no sign of a dog.

It was believed the animal had climbed out by itself.
