It was a great home victory for dancers from Butterfly Dance Studios when they performed in a competition at Goole Leisure Centre.

The committee of Goole dancers, together with dance teachers Sami, Jenni and Sally Rudge, organised the dancing competition on Sunday, June 10 that saw 250 dancers from Skegness, Scarborough, Leeds, Darlington, York and Bingley take part, together with 70 dancers from Goole.

The event pulled in around 300 spectators and students from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds; professional dance teachers from Selby judged the competition.

Competitors from Butterfly Dance Studios were very successful, with Ebony Graham coming third in the 10 years and under solo category, while Kelle Ruhmann, Annie Mahoney and Charlotte Phillips came first, second and third respectively in the 12 years and under solo category.

Kodie Hood fared well in the 15 years and under solo category when she took first place, while in the teams section Butterfly Magic came first in the nine years and under teams category, Popular Kittens, Red Admirals and Diamond Beauties bagged first, second and third place respectively in the 12 years and under category, while Beauty Spots and Painted Ladies won the respective first and second places in the 20 years and up teams category.

Special awards also went to Beauty Spots for being the most entertaining team and Popular Kittens for being the team with the best costume.
