Good shopping for ducks...

One shopper got more than she bargained for when she walked into the Peacocks' store in Goole.

The shopper, who asked not to be named, was amazed to see a mother duck and her brood of ducklings browsing the Wesley Square clothes store.

Shop staff contacted the RSPCA, who took the ducks to a local pond.

John Kershaw, secretary of Goole and District Branch, said the ducks must have had a nest nearby, possibly near the railway lines.

"When the mother had got all her brood together, she'll have wanted to take them to water," he said.

"The nearest water is probably the docks, and we wouldn't have wanted them to go there, so it's a good thing they went into Peacocks.

"They'll be as happy as larry in a pond."

Mr Kershaw also said the ducks were not injured in any way.
