New rules for play area cash

Published on 7th June 2007 in News

The rules governing commuted sums to provide play facilities on new housing developments could be set to change.

The East Riding of Yorkshire of Council has drawn up a draft of new guidelines relating to the play areas that housing developers are required to provide or contribute to when building new houses.

At Monday's Goole Town Council meeting, Cllr Malcolm Boatman explained that the new rules would be likely to generate more money, as the commuted sums could be applied to a development of just one house.

Councillors agreed to bring more suggestions to the next meeting, on Monday June 18.
