Archery, rock-climbing and a foam party were among the highlights of a centenary camp for Gilberdyke St Stephen's Scout Group recently.
More than a thousand scouts, cubs and beavers joined in the camp at Driffield Show Ground, and enjoyed everything from glass engraving to a surf-board stimulation challenge.
Fundraising to save scouts from wet weather
Unfortunately, the wet weather meant they needed to take shelter and the sheets St Stephen's currently use do not offer much protection from the elements.
The group are now renewing their efforts to raise money for a new dining shelter, which would provide an enclosed area for eating and other activities in wet weather.
They are hoping to buy a very large tent and to raise funds they plan to run stalls at Gilberdyke Strawberry Fayre and Newport Raft Race and organise a progressive garage sale.
The sale will take place on Sunday, September 23.
Any household in Newport or Gilberdyke who wants to sell unwanted items can pay £10 to be included on a map of all the addresses selling goods.
Alternatively, donations of items that can be sold at the scouts' headquarters would be much appreciated.
