Cut from wreckage after smash

Police clear up the scene after the accident.

The woman driver of a Volkswagen people-carrier had to be cut out of the vehicle after it crashed and overturned outside the Ferryboat Inn on Thursday.

Firefighters had to remove the windscreen of the vehicle to free the woman, who suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary by ambulance.

The people carrier collided with a white Vauxhall panel van on Boothferry Road shortly after 4pm.

The scene was cleared by 5.30pm.
