Crack-down on dodgy drivers

Humberside Police are to carry out spot checks this summer as part of a campaign to crackdown on illegal drivers.
It is thought there are more than 6,000 casualties every year as a result of unlicensed drivers - 900 of whom are killed or seriously injured.
One and a half million people are thought to be driving without insurance or tax, and 10 per cent without a valid MoT certificate.
Sergeant Neil Fillingham, of Humberside Police, said: "Research shows that people driving or riding motor vehicles [without the correct documentation] are more likely to commit other serious road traffic offences and other criminality, including theft of and the unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle.
"Officers will be patrolling the region's roads carrying out spot checks and using static points and asking drivers to pull over.
"The message is simple: Do not drive unless you have a full driving licence and all the correct documents - or expect to face the consequences."
Officers will work with other agencies such as the DVLA to detect possible offenders. Anyone who does not have the correct documentation could face anything from a caution or fixed penalty notice to court proceedings.
