Memorial

The quest to track down the names of Howden residents who have died in service since WWII has been successful and three names are to be added to the town's war memorial.

Following the death of Howden soldier Luke Simpson in Iraq earlier this year, Howden Town Council thought it appropriate to trace the names of other Howden residents who had died in service and made a public appeal for information.

The search paid off as two names have come to light. Joseph Naylor - a seaman lost with HMS Gould in 1944, and Roy Houlder - killed in Egypt in 1947.

The names are now to be added to the war memorial in time for Remembrance Day in November.
