Funding scheme

Published on 31st May 2007 in News

Groups and organisations involved in promoting Market Weighton now have an opportunity to take advantage of a new fund that is available to support projects in the town.

The Market Weighton Rural Target Fund comes from money delegated by Yorkshire Forward, the government's regional development agency, to the council to provide financial support to market town renaissance partnerships.

The funding could be used to support a wide range of projects, for example, ones aimed at improving transport or the environment, developing tourism and culture, providing community facilities or enabling small businesses to diversify and expand.

The funding is available over a three-year period to 2008/09 and projects will be selected by a panel made up of local and East Riding of Yorkshire Council representatives. The deadline for completed applications is July 13.

Residents wanting more information about the scheme should ring Helen Jackson, renaissance co-ordinator (Market Weighton) on 07825053451 or email helen.jackson@eastriding.gov.uk
