Good report for fire service

Published on 31st May 2007 in News

Humberside Fire and Rescue Service recently underwent a 'direction of travel' assessment by the Audit Commission and are pleased to have been awarded a score of three out of a maximum total of four.

The score indicates that the service is 'improving well'. This assessment was carried out as part of a follow-up to a previous visit by the auditors in 2005 and is intended to assess the improvement made since then.

Chief Fire Officer Keith Marshall said: "This is a very pleasing result which recognises the efforts made by everyone within the service and our partnership work."

Since 2005 Humberside Fire and Rescue Service has been successful in reducing the number of emergency incidents and at the same time has maintained an excellent emergency service. Fire deaths and injuries have reduced substantially and there is a significant downward trend in the incidence of arson.
