Howden and District Women's Luncheon Club met at the Masonic Hall in Howden on May 16.

President Barbara Cowling welcomed guests from both Doncaster and Goole Luncheon Clubs.

After lunch Mr John Morgan, who for 56 years worked both for the Yorkshire Post and Racing Post as a journalist, gave a talk about his career and early life in Leeds.

Mr Morgan has written eight books including the History of Leeds and a book about Fred Trueman the cricketer, which is due to be launched next week.
