'Sixpenny Wood' windfarm plans set for public display

Plans for the Sixpenny Wood wind farm are to go on display at an exhibition next Wednesday (May 30) in Eastrington.

Your Energy Limited plans to submit the formal application for the wind farm, which would be located between Eastrington, Gilberdyke, Kilpin and Laxton, in June.

The company now wants to update the local community on the project's current position.

Matt Kelly, project development manager for Your Energy, said: "We have developed a scheme that will contribute towards the East Riding meeting its renewable energy targets.

"We are totally committed to consulting with residents to gauge their views on our plans before we submit them to the planning department in June.

"We believe that our plans meet the needs of all stakeholders and, utilising our experience of developing similar schemes, we have worked hard to address the issues that might normally concern people with projects of this nature."

The company has organised two bus trips to take local residents to working wind farms, and say they are looking forward to meeting them and others at their first exhibition since last September.

"Whilst our research shows strong levels of support for the project, we recognise the importance of meeting with residents to keep them updated and the need to meet with people who may still have concerns," said Mr Kelly.

Your Energy proposes to set up a community fund of around £500,000 and is seeking feedback about how this money might be used for the benefit of nearby local communities and the East Riding as a whole.
