Plans to knock down a two-storey farmhouse at Forest Farm off Skiff Lane, Holme upon Spalding Moor and replace it with it a new building were put on hold this week after a dispute broke out over whether Holme Parish Council had received the correct application papers during consultation.
Meeting on Tuesday afternoon, members of East Riding of Yorkshire Council's (ERYC) western area planning committee were expected to refuse the application, until applicant G. A. Hawcroft claimed that the local parish council had received an incorrect set of planning application papers.
The applicant plans to replace the existing farmhouse - which has seen a number of alterations and additions over time, including a two-storey side extension in a different brick and a modern conservatory to the front elevation - with an altogether new property, and ERYC has received letters of support from nearby residents, who believe that a replacement property would blend into the countryside and be a positive improvement to the area.
But the Parish Council had strongly objected to the application, claiming that the plans are for a dwelling which is considered to be out of keeping in design and size with surrounding buildings.
The application will come before the next meeting of ERYC'' western area planning committee, when it will be confirmed if Holme Parish Council has received the correct planning application papers.
