Staff from the East Riding of Yorkshire Council's street team will be out and about spring cleaning rural parishes over the next few months.

Street services staff have identified 78 parishes to spring clean over the summer and are urging residents to point out dirty streets, potholes and overgrown hedges.

Mike Connor, the ERYC's parish and area liaison manager, said: "This scheme is about picking up those day-to-day issues of concern that might otherwise be overlooked.

"We welcome the input from those people who know the areas best - the villagers who live there."

The following dates have been set to visit parishes: Broomfleet May 14; Swinefleet May 14; Newport May 28; Pollington May 28; Gilberdyke June 4; Gowdall June 11; Holme upon Spalding Moor July 2; Snaith, including East and West Cowick July 2; Rawcliffe, including Rawcliffe Bridge July 23; Barmby on the Marsh August 27; South Cave August 6; Airmyn August 13; Asselby, including Knedlington, September 10; Wressle, including Brind and Newsholme, September 10; Hook September 24.

Anyone who has an issue they would like to see dealt with is asked to contact their parish clerk to make sure their concern has been identified.
