Marc McGarry (left) and Wayne Darby from NKL Automotive will soon be flying high when they take to the skies for a skydive next month to raise money for the road safety charity, BRAKE.

Three members of staff from nkl automotive in Goole are getting ready to jump out of an aeroplane, a few months after their boss abseiled from the roof of Hillsborough.

On June 2, Marc McGarry, from the sales and marketing department of the vehicle movement company, Lesley Pantry, from accounts and Wayne Darby from storage and reallocation will all launch themselves out of a plane for a charity parachute jump.

The money they raise will go to 'Brake', the road safety charity, which raises awareness of the dangers of our roads, offers help and support to those affected by road crashes and campaigns for safer roads.

nkl are corporate sponsors of the charity and director Joy Laister said: "Brake perform a vital role.

"Our business revolves around roads and we want to make sure the roads are as safe as we can possibly keep them."

Self-confessed acrophobic Joy, who had to pluck up every last ounce of courage to do her abseil, said her staff's feelings on the jump seemed to vary.

"Initially, there were feelings of enthusiasm and excitement, then of anxiety and anticipation and now they just want to get on with it," she said.

"My advice to them is don't look down!"

Several of the jumpers' colleagues will be at Filey to support them."

Joy said: "We're very proud of them - it makes my abseil pale into insignificance."

Marc, Lesley and Wayne have set a target of £1,500 between them but would like to raise as much as possible.

Anyone who would like to support them and Brake can do so by calling Marc on 01405 721414.
