Parking still a big issue

Published on 10th May 2007 in News

Traffic flow, the lack of car parking spaces and car park charges were highlighted as key issues to tackle during the first Goole area Chamber of Commerce (CoC) subcommittee meeting on transport.

A meeting took place recently between some members of Goole CoC, and the East Riding of Yorkshire Council's transport officer, Hazel Bainton.

The issues raised at the meeting have been reported back to Goole Renaissance, who are hoping to secure funding for an urban design review, or a 'masters plan', of Goole. The issues would be incorporated into the review.

Smaller projects such as signage, cycle lanes and footpaths were also discussed at the meeting.

Carolyn Burgess, chairman of the Goole area CoC, said no firm conclusions had been reached but explained: "We want to work with the authorities to see how we can influence the future."

It was agreed that the next meeting should be in around three months' time, unless circumstances suggest otherwise.
