Centre stays at top of tree

Published on 10th May 2007 in News

Goole Leisure Centre has once again been praised for its high standards of customer service and continuous commitment to improvement.

The centre has become one of the 12 East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC) owned leisure facilities that have retained their Charter Mark, which is administered by the government's Cabinet Office and is the national benchmark for customer service excellence.

All 12 of the leisure facilities owned by ERYC have maintained the high standards necessary to keep the Charter Mark after an extensive period of evaluation.

The performance of each leisure facility is scrutinised by customers and reported back at forums with staff, which can result in changes to services if they are in the interests of the wider customer base.

Richard Primmer, acting head of culture and information for ERYC, said: "Football managers often say it's a lot easier to get to the top than it is to stay at the top, and that's true of Charter Mark.

"To ensure we keep this accolade every year, we have to work hard to keep up high standards of customer service throughout our leisure centres, from smaller sports halls to the large multi-sports centres. We do our best to give people what they want but we're always happy to listen to our customers' suggestions."
