Arrest warrant issued for double-glazing man

They seek him here, they seek him there, but so far attempts by the authorities to track-down a Spaldington businessman alleged to have ripped-off customers in Goole, Selby and Hull have drawn a blank.
But now a District Judge has issued a warrant for the arrest of Mike Haslam after he failed to respond to communications from the Official Receiver who is seeking the insolvency of one of his businesses.
Mr Haslam, who trades under the names Calron Uk Ltd and National Windows and Conservatories, is alleged by several people to have taken thousands of pounds of their money, but never completed the work on their homes.
On Tuesday (May 8) at the Leeds Combined Courts, a District Judge was told that an insolvency public hearing against Calron Uk Ltd, of which Mr Haslam in registered as a director, would have to be adjourned because letters sent to him had been returned unserved, attempts to get him to several meetings with the Official Receiver had failed and even personal visits to two addresses had not resulted in contact being made.
The court heard that Mr Haslam had been written to at his home address of Yokegate Farm, Spaldington, but all correspondence had been returned. A representative of the Official Receiver had called at the farm to be told by a neighbour that Mr Haslam did still live there and had actually been seen on the site on the morning of the visit.
A second address before the court of Moorland Road, Old Goole, was said to be that on Mr Haslam's son, although contact with the father had not been achieved by letters sent to that address either.
The hearing was adjourned, a warrant for the arrest of Mr Haslam and his production before the county court in Leeds was issued.
Long list of customers out of pocket
As previously reported, a couple from Hull have been desperately trying to get their conservatory completed after Mr Haslam took £3,500 of their money but, after laying concrete, carried out no further works.
Another customer, a former Goole police inspector had his conservatory finished only after standing in front of Mr Haslam's home and refusing to leave.
A couple from Goole claim that they handed over almost £2,000 - 50 per cent of the price of the work they expected to be done but hasn't.
A Selby man also claims that he handed over £2,500 and that work actually started on his property without the correct planning permission which Mr Haslam had promised to obtain. Work stopped on the site, but the disillusioned customer has been unable to make contact with Mr Haslam and has been seeking legal redress.
Business premises vacated
At the time the contracts for the work were made Mr Haslam was operating from an address in Carlisle Street, Goole, but has since vacated the premises which are now being used by a totally unconnected business.
No future date has been set for the resumed hearing at Leeds County Court.
