Punters at a pub in Epworth had to be evacuated last Thursday evening after a fire broke out in the Red Lion Hotel.
Firefighters from Crowle, Epworth and Scunthorpe were quickly on the scene after fire broke out in the shower room and spread to a bedroom on the first floor around 10.15pm.
Customers were ordered to leave the pub while firefighters tackled the blaze.
Glenn Ramsden, spokesperson for Humberside Fire and Rescue, said: "When watch manager John Clark and his team arrived on scene they were confronted with a fire inside the property which was spreading rapidly into other rooms.
"His crew did an excellent job in preventing further damage and fighting the fire so quickly.
"Had it not been for their prompt action, it would have been devastating."
The fire left three first-floor flats of the building smoke-logged.
