A Rawcliffe man is facing jail after being found guilty of breaking a man's jaw.
Robert Andrew (40), of Westfield Close, punched and kicked the victim, leaving him in need of major facial surgery after accusing his victim of being a bully.
Mr Andrew waited for the victim to leave the Creykes Arms pub in Rawcliffe on September 6 last year before launching a savage attack.
Prosecutor Mark Bury told the jury in a trial at Hull Crown Court Mr Andrew had accused his victim of bullying a 17-year-old youth and waited an hour before attacking the man outside the pub.
His victim was left with a fractured jaw. After being taken to hospital three metal plates had to be inserted by a surgeon.
Mr Andrew denied a charge of causing grievous bodily harm but was convicted by a jury who did not believe his account of self defence.
Stood mournfully in the dock after the guilty verdict Mr Andrew had denied using unlawful violence. Judge Leslie Hull ordered Mr Andrew's background should be probed by the Humberside Probation Service before he is sentenced at Doncaster Crown Court later this month.
He ordered the case should be reserved to him and told Mr Andrew: "I am going to sentence you after receiving a pre-sentence report. In taking that course it is no indication of the likely sentence. It is very probable you will receive an immediate custodial sentence.
"I take that view having regard to the seriousness of the incident and the injuries. I will allow you bail in the meantime. I must warn you I will regard any trouble between you and the victim as an aggravating feature in this case."
He warned him he risked an increase in his sentence if he approached the victim. He was allowed to leave the dock and rejoin his family but not to leave the court before seeing a probation worker.
He is due to be sentenced on a date to be fixed in the week commencing May 21.
