Takings show locals 'shop till they drop'

Shopping is an increasingly popular pastime according to new figures.

In Goole, takings have jumped from £44 million to £61 million between April 2006 and April 2007.

Across the East Riding, spending has increased from £295 million to £420 million.

The survey was carried out by retail data company CACI.
