"Things will hopefully begin to move quickly now." This was the message from councillor Daniel Hennessy at the September Snaith and Cowick Town Council meeting on Monday as he updated council members on the state of the playing field off Pontefract Road in Snaith.

He confirmed that the field was soon to be signed over to the voluntary committee Snaith Playing Fields Association (SPFA) after the final signature was added by a trustee on Monday.

Cllr Hennessy also announced that fencing for the field had been given the go-ahead, and work would begin within the next three weeks.

East Riding councillor Terry Allison, present at Monday's meeting, added: "It appears that the playing field issues have almost been resolved."
