The forward-thinking developer behind the 32-acre Ozone development in Howden has chosen the work of a talented art and design student from Hull as it adds the finishing touches to the distribution and light manufacturing park.

Hull School of Art and Design student Joseph Holder (20) recently designed the winning entry in a competition to find a striking piece of artwork for the £20m Ozone development in Howden, being built by South-Cave based Horncastle Group PLC.

Joseph's proposed three-metre high sculpture entitled 'The Walking Men' - showing two people stepping out from a curved steel structure - will be sited in a prominent location on the Ozone development and will portray the striking and innovative aspects of the site.

"All of the 14 entries were of a very high standard and the three which reached the final were excellent," said judging panel member Andrew Horncastle, of the Horncastle group.

"We finally decided on The Walking Men sculpture because it will create such a striking visual impression."

Joseph's winning entry has earned him a first prize of £500 and Hull School of Art and Design will also receive £500. The Horncastle Group has budgeted a further £5,000 for the sculpture to be fabricated.
