Sign-up to stop Bart House closure

Published on 3rd May 2007 in News

Goole Times readers can sign a petition protesting against the possible closure of Bartholomew House in our Boothferry Road office.

The petition says that the ten-bed unit, on Bartholomew Avenue, provides an 'essential service' and should remain open for the benefit of the people.

As part of plans to reorganise the region's mental health services, Humber Mental Health have proposed closing either Bartholomew House or a 12-bed ward in Bridlington.

Beds from whichever unit is closed will be re-provided at Mill View Lodge or Mill View Court at Castle Hill Hospital in Cottingham.

The proposals are part of plans to modernise and improve mental health services.

They are based around the principles of reducing the number of in-patient units in the East Riding and improving care for people in their own homes.

Consultation on the plans will continue until June 25.

Several people have already signed the petition, which is available at the Goole Times at 102 Boothferry Road.
