Schoolboy stuck up tree

Published on 3rd May 2007 in News

A schoolboy was rescued by firefighters after climbing six feet into a conifer tree at Luddington and Garthrope Primary School, near Crowle, on Tuesday morning.

Two Goole firefighters climbed up the tree and helped him down just after 10.30am.

Lesley Slack, headteacher at the school, said that firefighters who had been giving a talk to the older pupils about fire safety had been about to leave when it was noticed that one of the younger pupils had climbed into a tree.

The fire officers then called the fire service, who got him down.

"He'd climbed about six feet up and realised he couldn't get down," said Mrs Slack.

"He was fine afterwards."
