Dancers take a step in the right direction

Published on 14th September 2006 in News

Pupils of Butterfly Dance Studios have enjoyed placements at the summer school hosted by the prestigious Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds.

16-year-old Elizabeth Lucas and Tanya Frere, also 16, boarded at Leeds University for the week and at the end of the course took part in a show at the Riley Theatre for parents and friends. This gave both girls an insight into the dancing world as a career.

Elizabeth has gone on to a full-time course in dance at John Leggot College in Scunthorpe, whilst Tanya will study at Selby College as she can't decide between dance and hairdressing for her career.

Bright future beckons

Another Butterfly Dance Studios' student, 15-year-old Lotty Welch (not pictured) was also chosen from hundreds of dancers around the region to take part in a six-week foundation course at the Northern School, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Lotty is also hoping to take up performing arts as a career when she leaves school. (14-09-08 SU)
