DIY drinkers cause problems for pub landlady

Foreign language posters could soon be displayed in pubs around Goole to make the rules of British pubs clear to Eastern European migrants living in the area.
The idea was originally brought up at a local Pubwatch meeting earlier this year after members of Goole's migrant community reportedly began bringing their own alcohol into the town's pubs.
This was a particular problem at the North Eastern pub on Boothferry Road. Landlady Julie Tuft told the Goole Times this week that a number of migrants were repeatedly bringing their own alcohol into her pub earlier this year.
She said: "These people were openly drinking their own alcohol. It was a different group of people each time, so it was hard to keep track of who was who.
"They say that they don't know that you can't take your own drink into pubs, but I've never seen people in other countries walking into bars with their own alcohol."
Ms Tuft revealed that she had problems with some members of the migrant community who refused to leave when they were caught with their own booze, and she says that these problems became so widespread that she was advised to employ doormen.
Julie added: "I decided against employing bouncers. I don't know if word got around that I don't tolerate people drinking their own alcohol, but the problem has died down now.
"We have members of the migrant community that drink in our pub and they are lovely."
However, it was agreed at a recent Pubwatch meeting that posters in foreign languages explaining the rules of British pubs would resolve any problems once and for all.
A spokesperson for Humberside Police said that the posters could available in Latvian, Polish and Lithuanian, but confirmed this week that plans were still in their early stages.
The spokesperson said: "It is not in our culture to take our own alcohol into pubs, and these posters will make this clear to members of the migrant community in the right manner."
