Business advice free at meeting

Entrepreneurs with all levels of experience are invited to an information gathering and sharing session in Gilberdyke next Tuesday (May 1).
Anyone who has a business in the Gilberdyke area, or is thinking of starting up an economic or social enterprise, is invited to the free event organised by the Gilberdyke Parish Plan Group (GPPG).
The group has asked a number of local agencies to provide information on the support available for rural enterprise, including Business Link, Business in the Community, East Riding of Yorkshire Council and The Prince's Trust.
"All are welcome to attend, whether they are young people starting out for the first time, those seeking to go into self-employment or more experienced entrepreneurs needing an update," said Steve Page, chair of the GPPG.
Organisers are especially interested in attracting those not on formal listings, either because they are a new or emerging company, or are working from home.
There will also be a presentation on the business survey of the parish, which will be launched at the event.
The survey is part of wider work with the Gilberdyke community to gain the views of residents and groups about how they want to see the parish in the future, including issues and opportunities around skills, work and services.
"We are asking businesses to contribute to the survey so we can make sure that the final Plan of Action reflects their needs," said Steve.
"But another practical aim is to produce a business directory to promote local shops and traders and encourage support for local shops and traders, and encourage support for local producers and employers."
Forms for the survey are being distributed around the parish but if anyone does not receive a copy by May Day they are asked to contact Steve on 01430 440079 or via email: community@gilberdyke.org.uk
The event will take place in Gilberdyke War Memorial Hall between 6pm and 8pm. Light refreshments will be served from 5.30pm.
