It's a 'saw set' - or is it?

Last week the Goole Times printed the two pictures below of the mystery tool (left) being used as a saw set.

However, two readers have contacted us to say it is definitely an imperial measurement standard wire gauge.

One of those was Kevin O'Connor, of Hook Road, who said the the gauge was mainly used in aircraft engineering.

He is pictured (right) with his own model, which bears the inscription Bob and Kelly Son, Manchester.
