A much-anticipated £350,000 all-weather football pitch is to be officially opened at Howden School next week.
The state-of-the-art synthetic turf football pitch has been designed to professional standards and built to the highest-quality specification. Funding has been provided by the Football Foundation, in partnership with the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
"The opening of the new pitch is great news for the school and the surrounding area and it will make a real difference to the local community in terms of providing top quality sporting facilities," said Andrew Williams, head teacher at Howden School.
"We are very grateful for the investment made and the hard work put in by those securing the grants and we look forward to welcoming people to the school to take advantage of the new facilities."
Paul Thorogood, chief executive of the Football Foundation, added: "The improvements at Howden School and Technology College are another important boost to the quality of sports provision in the area, which local people can enjoy."
Staff v. Former Students!
The official opening of the pitch will be next Wednesday at 2pm, when a series of events will take place as part of the ceremony, including a football coaching session for students led by members of Hull City Football Club. The afternoon will culminate in a Howden Staff versus Former Students competition.
