Ex-partner attacked during blazing row

A Goole man who attacked his ex-partner after they been arguing appeared in court this week.

David Kidd (28), of Mount Pleasant Road, pleaded guilty to a single charge of assault when he appeared at Goole Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

Prosecutor Mrs Julie Laverack Glanville told the court that the defendant and the victim had been together for two and a half years and had a child together. However, they now lived apart due to problems in the relationship.

On April 27 Mr Kidd was at the victim's home when an argument broke out between them. Mr Kidd became very angry and she shouted at him. He grabbed hold of her head and told her that she was "f**ked in the head". While he had hold of her he poked her in the head. They were both shouting at each other at the time.

The victim then telephoned her mother and told her what had happened; Mr Kidd left the house. The court was told the pair met up again later in the day.

It was revealed to the court that Mr Kidd had a previous conviction for attacking the same woman.

Defending, Mr Ben Hibbert told the magistrates that the two had argued, his client had grabbed hold of the victim's head and poked her in the head once. He left but then returned later to have a meal with her and their child.

Magistrates adjourned the case against Mr Kidd for the preparation of a pre-sentence report until October 3. Mr Kidd was granted conditional bail until that date.
