A Goole man is set make the jump from events organiser to event participant when he runs the London Marathon next Sunday.
By trade David Martin, of Sandhall Drive, is a senior events organiser and organises Cancer Research's Race for Life series.
And this Sunday he will be one of the thousands of runners pounding the streets as he tackles his first-ever marathon.
David, who is running with his friend and colleague Lucy Newington-Bridges, is hoping to raise more than £2,000 for the cancer charity.
David said: "We are taking part in the London Marathon this year for Cancer Research UK, to thank the 800,000 women who will take part in Race for Life this year across the UK, for the 800,000 reasons they individually have for taking part and for the one reason we all support Cancer Research UK - to beat cancer."
David and Lucy have been sponsored by Youngman Building Contractors, also of Goole, who have donated more than £1,000.
"Lucy and I would like to thank Youngman Building Contractors for the amazing contribution they have made to our fundraising target," said David.
"Without the support of people like Gary Youngman we would not be able to play a vital part in the fight against cancer."

The London Marathon is 26.2 miles long and takes place on Sunday, April 22.
