Pregnant pause...

Mums-to-be will soon know what changes have been made to local midwifery services in a bid to save £350,000 a year.
A three-month consultation period looking at the options for midwifery services in Goole ended on Tuesday. Depending on the results, pregnant women will either see a different midwife for ante- and post-natal care, under a hospital-led model, or continue with the current system but with reduced staffing numbers.
Cuts could save thousands
The options - decided on by members of the public - could save Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Trust £350,000 a year.
Midwifery services in Goole and Scunthorpe currently cost 15 per cent more than at Grimsby's Diana, Princess of Wales, Hospital. In 2004/05, 2,000 babies were born in Goole and Scunthorpe, with the cost an estimated £2.6 million a year more than Government-set tariffs.
Lisa Webster, a spokeswoman for the hospitals trust, said: "We will now evaluate the responses to the consultation."
"The responses will go to the trust board and they will make a decision. It will take some time."
