A 53-year-old man died after he was struck by a lorry on the M62 at Goole last Friday morning.
Police were called to the scene at the Junction 36 eastbound sliproad shortly after 5.30am.
The man, who was later identified as Paul Ramon Thorpe from the South Yorkshire area, had been struck by an 18-tonne Volvo tipper truck, which was being driven by a 25-year-old West Yorkshire man.
Mr Thorpe sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The lorry was travelling east towards Hull in lane one of the motorway when the collision occurred with Mr Thorpe, who is believed to have been walking close to where the sliproad leaves the motorway for the A614.
Police want to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw Mr Thorpe walking in the area prior to the collision. He was wearing a three-quarter length coat and a hat and was carrying a bag.
The A614 slip road and lanes one and two of the eastbound motorway were closed until around 11.30am while police officers carried out their investigation.
POLICE APPEAL:
Anyone who saw anyone walking on or near the motorway is asked to contact Humberside Police on 0845 60 60 222, referring to log 96 of September 8.
