New funding granted for dance group

Young, enthusiastic dancers are invited to gain new skills in a scheme that is getting more successful every year.
East Riding Youth Dance gives young people the chance to get involved with one of six groups, including one based in Goole, and gain skills in a variety of dance styles.
Styles such as break dance, hip hop, jazz, contemporary and street dance are offered and they will also have the chance to create performance works alongside professional dance artists.
"The project has been running for nearly two years, and in that time, has gone from strength to strength," said Emma Townend, Youth Dance co-ordinator.
Funders have been so impressed with the project that they have agreed to back it for another year.
"This term marks the end of our initial funding, so we want to put on our biggest performance ever to celebrate the achievements of the past two years," Emma said.
The project, which is funded by Arts Council, England and the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, is open to males and females between the ages of 14 and 18. Previous experience is not necessary.
Groups start for the summer term this month.
